Romans 8:28 (NIV)
Vision of Christ Church (VOCC) originated as an offshoot of a larger congregation, The Rock Christian Fellowship (TRCF) of the Assemblies of God. TRCF, a close-knit and vibrant faith community, was established in 2008 by Rev. Velmer Masuecos and his wife Connie, the late Leonardo and Angelita Oblima, Rev. Ceferino Butac and his wife Priscilla, along with ten founding member families, led by praise and worship leaders Rick and Lery Manguerra. Over time, TRCF expanded to include over 48 families, with approximately 96 adult congregants at the height of its ministry.
From 2016 to 2018, TRCF faced a series of significant life changes among its members, including employment transitions, retirements, shifts in vocational priorities, career changes, and the passing of several founding members. These events led to the relocation of several families to new areas and, subsequently, to other Christian faith communities.
By God's grace, despite the decline in membership, ten steadfast families remained committed to their faith: Jose & Esperanza Calumaya, Minnie Campbell, Edmund & Soledad Evangelista, Amador & Lin Garcia, Alfredo & Eden Hidalgo, Isidro & Alexis Honrubia, Rick & Lery Manguerra, Antonio & Florence Nucal, Benny & Nora Tabingo, and Boboy & Maria Corazon Yap. During this period, Rev. Dennis T. Honrubia, who was then serving as a visiting pastor, along with his wife Kristine, faithfully led Sunday worship services. The church continued its focus on discipleship, evangelism, fellowship, and mission support as originally envisioned.
On May 21, 2019, TRCF, now doing business as Vision of Christ Church, underwent reorganization when the NC/NV District of the Assemblies of God officially confirmed Rev. Dennis Honrubia as its Senior Pastor.
The last quarter of 2019 brought mixed feelings of sadness and merriment to VOCC – sadness over the decision of worship leaders Rick and Lery Manguerra to retire to the Philippines for good; merriment and hope over God’s timely and abundant provision of four (4) beautiful souls – to fill their absence - Tess Atanacio, Pepper Lewis, Odette Jocson and Flor Avendan Nieblas, who, together with Kristine, usher us into a spirit-filled worship every Sunday.
